Khamzat Chimaev, one of the UFC’s most dominant fighters, has boldly announced his intention to capture the middleweight title in 2025. After a triumphant return to the Octagon in 2024, where he dismantled Robert Whittaker in the first round at UFC 308, “Borz” has set a clear goal for the new year.

Chimaev’s Bold Promise to Fans

In a recent X post, Chimaev shared a confident statement: “2025 I will take this belt InShAllah, and no one can stop it.” The declaration comes as the middleweight division awaits the outcome of a rematch between current champion Dricus du Plessis and top contender Sean Strickland at UFC 312.

Chimaev’s dominant win against Whittaker secured his position as the No. 3 contender in the division and earned praise from UFC CEO Dana White, who hinted that Chimaev could soon fight for the belt. Despite his confidence, the path to the title could face challenges depending on the outcome of the upcoming title bout.

Dricus du Plessis vs. Sean Strickland: A Deciding Factor

The middleweight title picture is set to become clearer after UFC 312, where du Plessis will defend his belt against Strickland. The rivalry between the two dates back to their controversial split-decision fight at UFC 297, which crowned du Plessis as champion. The rematch, scheduled for February in Sydney, will settle their unfinished business and determine the next challenge for Chimaev.

Du Plessis recently addressed the possibility of facing Chimaev, stating, “Just for clarification, I preferred the Khamzat fight, but the rematch is a fight most wanted before Khamzat vs. Whittaker. I’ll fight whoever the fans think is next best.”

What’s Next for “Borz”?

The undefeated Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) has been a rising force in the middleweight division, with each victory solidifying his case for a title shot. As he awaits the results of UFC 312, fans and analysts are eager to see if “Borz” can deliver on his promise and become the middleweight champion by the end of 2025.
