Magomed Ankalaev isn’t just coming for the UFC Light Heavyweight title—he’s coming to redefine Alex Pereira’s career. With their championship showdown set for March 8 at UFC 313, the Russian powerhouse has made it clear that he plans to do more than just win. He intends to break Pereira mentally and physically, ensuring that the reigning champ “will never be the same” after their fight.
Magomed Ankalaev’s Unstoppable Rise
Ankalaev enters this fight with undeniable momentum. The Dagestani fighter is on a 13-fight unbeaten streak, proving himself as one of the most dangerous threats in the division. His recent unanimous decision victory over Aleksandar Rakić at UFC 308, combined with his brutal knockout of Johnny Walker earlier in 2024, has only solidified his reputation as a dominant force.
Despite his impressive performances, Ankalaev believes he has yet to receive the respect he deserves. With a chance to claim UFC gold, he’s determined to send a statement loud and clear—one that Pereira won’t soon forget.

“He Will Never Be The Same”
On Sunday, Ankalaev took to X to fire a warning shot at Pereira, criticizing the champion’s mindset and preparation.
“This guy keeps traveling and forgets that on March 8, he’s fighting for his life,” he posted. “He will never be the same after this fight. [Dana White], mark my words.”
The comment appeared to reference Pereira’s frequent trips, including his recent visit to Sydney to support Sean Strickland at UFC 312. Pereira was in Strickland’s corner during his unsuccessful title defense against Dricus Du Plessis, but Ankalaev believes the Brazilian is too distracted by outside commitments.
The Russian also mocked Pereira’s social media activity, calling him a “TikTok chick” and dismissing his training habits.
“I’ve been climbing mountains, chopping wood, swimming in freezing lakes—Alex has been dancing and making videos,” he added. “I never wanted to hurt someone in my life as much as I want to hurt Alex. He is a fake humble boy.”
With tensions rising and both fighters locked in for the biggest light heavyweight clash of the year, UFC 313 promises to be an explosive showdown. If Ankalaev has his way, Pereira’s reign will end in brutal fashion.
