Dana White, the president of the UFC, was on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast recently, and it caused ripples in the MMA industry. White discussed many things, including his broken relationship with veteran journalist Ariel Helwani, why Jon Jones won’t be fighting at the historic White House show, and that Conor McGregor is in talks to headline the event. The remarks offered transparency, strategy, and visions for the future that could change the course of the UFC’s next chapter.

Dana White Softens on Ariel Helwani

The constant feud between Dana White and Ariel Helwani has been one of MMA’s longest-running dramas. Helwani, who has won the MMA Journalist of the Year award several times, was banned from UFC events in 2016 after breaking big news regarding Brock Lesnar’s return to UFC 200 and the McGregor-Diaz rematch before the organisation had a chance to announce it. The UFC had to withdraw the suspension after two days because of public pressure, but Helwani’s access never fully returned, and tensions between him and White lasted for almost ten years.

White surprised a lot of people by altering his tone on Impaulsive. White said, “I’m upset about it too,” when Logan Paul said that Helwani was still upset over their connection. He went even further and said it might be time to “figure this thing out” and “get back together.” This was the first time White publicly said that reconciliation is possible, which is big news for supporters who have seen the tension build for years. Helwani has previously expressed his willingness to reconcile, and White’s recent change of heart could significantly alter the UFC’s approach to media relations.

The White House UFC Card: A Historic Spectacle

The talk naturally turned to the UFC’s upcoming event at the White House, which will take place in Washington, D.C. in June 2026. The card is part of the celebrations for America’s Semiquincentennial and will take place on the South Lawn of the White House. Because of security concerns, there will only be a small live audience. Even though fewer people will be there in person, the event will be broadcast around the world and will be accompanied with fan festivals, concerts, and viewing areas all over the city.

Dana White emphasised the need for trustworthy fighters for the White House card. This isn’t just another UFC event; it’s being billed as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to show off mixed martial arts to a global audience. With those stakes in mind, White talked about why he has ruled out several competitors and is leaning strongly on one man to be the main event.

Why Jon Jones Was Dismissed

It has been observed that Jon Jones has not been included in White House discussions, and White has now provided an explanation for this. After his negotiations to fight Tom Aspinall fell apart earlier this year, Jones is said to have privately apologised to Dana White. White accepted Jones’s apologies, but he was quite clear about why he didn’t want Jones on this historic card. White says that reliability is the most important thing, and he needs fighters he can “count on” for this kind of event. White said that Jones is not one of those fighters, even though Jones has an unquestionable legacy. This basically ended Jones’s chances of being in the White House showcase.

This point of view shows how practical Dana White is. Jones is still one of the best athletes in the sport, but the UFC president said that reputation alone is not enough. White doesn’t want to take any chances with fighters whose prior agreements or conflicts could ruin the show because it’s an event with historical significance, meaning, and international attention.

Conor McGregor: The Man for the Moment

Conor McGregor, on the other hand, is being set up to be the main event at the White House. Dana White said that he and McGregor have been “talking nonstop”, and the former two-division champion informed him straight, “I’m dead serious” about coming back. McGregor is the best choice to lead an event of this kind because he is a big name, can headline pay-per-views that shatter records, and has a history of doing well in situations of such magnitude.

Michael Chandler is still the most likely opponent, even though no fight has been officially signed. This has led to more speculations about the fight. McGregor is back in the USADA testing pool, and new training videos show that he is working hard to get ready. Dana White stated that McGregor is someone he can count on to show up, do his job, and put on a show that is worthy of the White House stage.

What It Means for the UFC

When you look at all of Dana White’s comments on Impaulsive, you can see three major adjustments. First, the fact that he was willing to make up with Ariel Helwani implies that the UFC may be going towards a better relationship with the independent press, which might make things more open and trustworthy. Second, his refusal of Jon Jones, even though Jones is a great fighter, demonstrates that he is putting trust and dependability ahead of legacy. And finally, his faith in McGregor shows how important the Irishman is to the UFC’s plans to grow around the world, even though he hasn’t fought in years.

The UFC White House card is already looking like it will be one of the biggest events in the history of promotions. If McGregor is the main event and Dana White makes up with Helwani, it might be a turning point for the UFC’s history and how it presents its story in the future.
