Alex Pereira has done it again. In a stunning 80-second performance at UFC 320, the Brazilian knockout artist stopped Magomed Ankalaev to reclaim the light heavyweight title and cement himself as one of the most decorated fighters of the modern era. The emphatic victory erased the sting of his previous decision loss to Ankalaev in March and made him the first two-time 205-pound champion since Jon Jones.
For Pereira, the win was more than just redemption. It was a statement. Ankalaev’s months of dismissive comments leading up to the rematch clearly struck a nerve. Pereira admitted post-fight that the trash talk motivated him to silence his rival once and for all.
Pereira calls for Jon Jones superfight at the White House
Moments after reclaiming his title at UFC 320, Pereira made it clear that his ambitions reach beyond light heavyweight. Speaking to reporters, he called for a “superfight” against Jon Jones at the planned UFC event at the White House in June 2026. Out of respect for Jones, who is mourning the recent loss of his brother Arthur, Pereira paused his celebration to call for a moment of silence inside the T-Mobile Arena.

Despite reportedly injuring a toe during his victory, Pereira told media he has no intention of slowing down.
I want to fight again soon. I want to fight Jon Jones
UFC CEO Dana White later confirmed that Pereira’s team has already discussed a move to heavyweight, although he expressed hesitation about the jump, saying there are still plenty of challenges for Pereira at 205.
If Pereira stays put, a third fight with Jiri Prochazka seems inevitable. But if the UFC greenlights a move up, a blockbuster clash with Jones could be one of the biggest fights in company history.
Jiri Prochazka delivers comeback of the night and eyes Pereira trilogy
Jiri Prochazka once again proved why he’s one of the most unpredictable and dangerous fighters in the UFC. In a thrilling back-and-forth battle against Khalil Rountree Jr., Prochazka found himself down two rounds before storming back in the third to deliver a highlight-reel knockout that may end up as one of the year’s best.

The victory reminded everyone that the former champion remains a legitimate threat to anyone in the division. After the fight, Prochazka wasted no time calling for another shot at Pereira.
Maybe I leave that story with Alex the same, he said. I will find a way for Alex in the third match.
A trilogy that makes too much sense
With Pereira once again sitting on the throne and Prochazka back in form, a trilogy fight practically writes itself. Their rivalry already features two explosive encounters, one knockout and one TKO, and a third bout could serve as the ultimate decider in one of the UFC’s most compelling modern rivalries.
If the UFC decides to delay that matchup, Prochazka could face surging contender Carlos Ulberg, who has quietly built one of the longest active win streaks in the division. Either way, Prochazka’s UFC 320 performance all but guarantees his next fight will carry major stakes.
Merab Dvalishvili continues his reign of dominance at bantamweight
While Pereira and Prochazka delivered fireworks at light heavyweight, Merab Dvalishvili once again showcased technical perfection in the co-main event. The Georgian champion defended his bantamweight title for the third time, defeating Cory Sandhagen by unanimous decision and extending his win streak to 14.
Dvalishvili controlled every aspect of the fight, smothering Sandhagen with relentless wrestling and becoming the first fighter in UFC history to record 100 career takedowns. The performance not only reaffirmed his position as one of the sport’s most disciplined champions but also sparked discussions about his place among the all-time greats at 135 pounds.

“This is my division”
After the win, Dvalishvili shot down speculation about a potential move to featherweight, saying, “This is my division. I don’t need another belt to prove who I am.” Instead, he’s eyeing a familiar name for his next title defense: former champion Petr Yan.
Dvalishvili already holds a win over Yan from 2023 but sees a rematch as a chance to silence any remaining critics. He has also expressed interest in a quick turnaround before the end of 2025. If that fight falls through, Alexandre Pantoja, the reigning flyweight champion has teased a cross-division clash that could make for one of the most intriguing matchups of the new year.
The crossroads: three fighters, three directions
UFC 320 was more than just another pay-per-view, it was a reshuffling of elite trajectories. Pereira reclaimed his title and now dreams of heavyweight glory. Prochazka re-established himself as a rightful top contender with an unforgettable comeback. Dvalishvili cemented his reign with another suffocating title defense.
Each fighter now stands at a crossroads. Pereira is chasing legacy, Prochazka is chasing redemption, and Dvalishvili is chasing history. The UFC’s next few months could determine whether all three continue to dominate their divisions or forge new paths toward even greater challenges.
