UFC Freedom 250 has delivered one of the most significant audience figures in mixed martial arts history, drawing an average of 7 million viewers in the United States and reaching 17 million total viewers across the United States and Latin America.

The landmark event, held on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, marked a unique moment for both the UFC and combat sports. Headlined by Justin Gaethje’s stunning fourth round TKO victory over Ilia Topuria for the lightweight championship, the card generated widespread attention long before the first fight began.

According to Paramount+, the event averaged 8.2 million viewers across the United States and Latin America, including 1.2 million viewers from Latin American markets. Total reach figures stood at 15.26 million viewers in the United States and 1.67 million in Latin America.

A milestone event for Paramount+

The impressive numbers make UFC Freedom 250 the most watched exclusive live event in Paramount+ history. Viewership figures were compiled using Nielsen data in the United States and Adobe Analytics in Latin America.

The figures only account for live audiences and do not include delayed viewing, making the achievement even more notable. Global audience numbers are expected to be released by the UFC in the coming days.

The event was the first major UFC card held at the White House and formed part of celebrations surrounding America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. It also coincided with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

Speaking ahead of the event, UFC CEO Dana White predicted massive viewership.

We’re going to do Super Bowl type numbers, White said during fight week.

While the final audience fell short of that lofty comparison, the event still delivered one of the strongest live sports streaming performances of the year.

Justin Gaethje steals the spotlight

Inside the cage, the headline story belonged to Justin Gaethje.

The veteran lightweight produced one of the biggest upsets of 2026 by stopping previously unbeaten champion Ilia Topuria in the fourth round. Gaethje’s aggressive approach gradually broke down the champion before a decisive finish secured the undisputed lightweight title.

The result instantly reshaped the lightweight division and provided a dramatic ending to an event already filled with memorable moments.

Adding to the spectacle, every fight on the seven bout card ended via knockout or technical knockout, creating a fast paced show that kept viewers engaged throughout the evening.

Comparing the numbers

The audience figures place UFC Freedom 250 among the most watched MMA events ever broadcast in the United States.

For comparison, the UFC’s first event on FOX in 2011 averaged 5.7 million viewers and peaked at 8.8 million. More recently, the MVP MMA event headlined by Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano reportedly averaged more than 9 million viewers in the United States on Netflix.

What makes Freedom 250 particularly impressive is that Paramount+ currently operates with a significantly smaller subscriber base than Netflix. The UFC is also in the first year of its seven year, $7.7 billion broadcast agreement with Paramount, making the event an early success story for both companies.

A Paramount spokesperson described the event as “the biggest exclusive live event in Paramount+ history.”

A major win for the UFC

The White House setting generated debate before the event, but the final viewership figures suggest curiosity and spectacle played a major role in attracting audiences.

From the unique venue to a championship upset and a card filled entirely with stoppages, UFC Freedom 250 offered plenty of reasons for casual viewers and dedicated fans to tune in.

While comparisons with the Super Bowl proved unrealistic, averaging 7 million viewers in the United States remains a remarkable achievement for a streaming exclusive MMA event.

For the UFC, Paramount+, and the fighters involved, Freedom 250 has already secured its place as one of the most successful and talked about events in the promotion’s history.

With global viewership numbers still to come, the final chapter of UFC Freedom 250’s audience story may be even bigger than the headlines already suggest.
