Salahdine Parnasse has officially completed the final hurdle before his highly anticipated UFC debut.

The French lightweight weighed in at 155 pounds on Friday ahead of his main event against Dan Hooker at UFC Paris. Hooker also registered 155 pounds, ensuring that the five round lightweight contest is officially set for Saturday night at Accor Arena.

The weigh ins remove any final uncertainty surrounding the headline bout and set the stage for one of the most significant fights of Parnasse’s career. The 28 year old Frenchman will make his first UFC appearance in front of his home crowd against a seasoned opponent who has spent years competing at the highest level of the lightweight division.

Parnasse makes weight for his UFC debut

Parnasse’s arrival in the UFC has attracted considerable attention because of what he accomplished before joining the promotion.

The Aubervilliers native enters the UFC with a 23 and 2 professional record and an impressive championship résumé. He previously captured titles at both featherweight and lightweight in KSW, establishing himself as one of the leading fighters outside the UFC before making the move to the world’s biggest MMA promotion.

His UFC profile lists eight knockout victories and seven submission wins, with four of his professional victories coming inside the opening round. He has also won seven consecutive fights by knockout or technical knockout, according to the promotion.

Parnasse has also remained unbeaten at lightweight during his professional career, holding a 7 and 0 record in the division. His two professional defeats came at other weight classes, adding further intrigue to his move into the UFC lightweight rankings.

Rather than easing him into the promotion, the UFC has immediately placed Parnasse in a five round main event against an established UFC veteran. That makes Saturday’s contest an unusually demanding debut.

Dan Hooker stands between Parnasse and a winning start

Standing opposite Parnasse will be New Zealand’s Dan Hooker, a highly experienced lightweight who has faced some of the biggest names in the division during his UFC career.

Hooker enters the contest with a 24 and 14 professional record and has built a reputation for competing in high level, physically demanding fights. The UFC currently lists him as the No. 10 ranked lightweight contender.

The stakes are particularly important for Hooker because he is attempting to rebound from consecutive defeats. A third straight loss would represent the first three fight losing streak of his career, according to MMA Fighting.

That gives the veteran plenty of motivation heading into Paris. Hooker also brings something Parnasse has never experienced inside the UFC: the challenge of dealing with a seasoned opponent over five rounds at the highest level of the promotion.

A five round UFC debut in front of a home crowd

For Parnasse, the setting adds another important element. He will make his UFC debut in Paris, surrounded by a French audience that has followed his career outside the promotion. The UFC has described him as a French MMA star, while his previous success in KSW established him as one of Europe’s most accomplished fighters outside the UFC.

The promotion has also given him the rare opportunity to headline an event immediately upon arrival.

Parnasse has already demonstrated considerable championship experience. His UFC profile states that he competed in 14 title fights during his 25 fight professional career, including championship reigns at two different weight classes in KSW.

Saturday therefore represents less of a conventional UFC introduction and more of a direct test of whether his success outside the promotion can translate against established UFC opposition.

Hooker draws attention during the weigh in

While both men successfully made the lightweight limit, Hooker’s appearance on the scale became another talking point surrounding Friday’s weigh ins. Some observers questioned how difficult the weight cut appeared for the veteran. However, there was no official indication that Hooker failed to make weight or that the bout was in danger of being cancelled.

The confirmed result is straightforward. Hooker weighed 155 pounds, exactly matching Parnasse, and the main event remains scheduled for five rounds.

The UFC Paris main card is officially set

The main event was not the only fight confirmed during Friday’s weigh ins. French lightweight Fares Ziam also weighed 155 pounds for his co main event against fellow Frenchman Axel Sola, setting up another significant matchup for the home crowd.

Michael “Venom” Page weighed 185 pounds for his middleweight contest against Nursulton Ruziboev, who came in at 186 pounds. Daniil Donchenko and Punahele Soriano both weighed 170 pounds for their welterweight fight.

At featherweight, Kurtis Campbell and Trevor Peek each registered 146 pounds, while Losene Keita weighed 146 pounds and Muhammad Naimov weighed 145 pounds. All 28 fighters scheduled for Saturday’s event successfully made weight, according to MMA Fighting’s report on the official weigh ins.

Parnasse now faces the biggest test of his career

The weigh in is now complete, leaving Parnasse with one final task.

He has already established himself as a two division KSW champion. He has already built a 23 and 2 record. He has also won seven straight fights by knockout or technical knockout and arrives in the UFC with significant championship experience. None of that guarantees success against Hooker.

The New Zealander has spent years fighting elite opposition inside the UFC and has the experience of competing in high pressure main events. Parnasse, meanwhile, will have to demonstrate that his finishing ability and championship pedigree can translate immediately to the UFC stage.

The circumstances make Saturday’s main event particularly compelling. Parnasse gets the home crowd and the opportunity to announce himself to the UFC audience. Hooker gets the chance to halt his losing streak and spoil one of the most anticipated UFC debuts of the year.

With both fighters weighing 155 pounds, there are no remaining obstacles at the scale. Now, the UFC Paris main event is ready to begin.
