Jon Jones has once again sparked speculation about a possible return to the UFC after sharing a cryptic update that suggests he may not be finished with mixed martial arts after all.

The former two division champion has spent much of the past year insisting he is comfortable with life outside competition. However, his latest comments have reopened the conversation about a comeback as he continues working closely with Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson ahead of the wrestler’s UFC debut at UFC 329.

While Jones stopped short of announcing a return, his latest remarks have left plenty of room for interpretation.

Jon Jones hints at comeback

The discussion began when a fan questioned why Jones was not fighting this summer while other veteran stars were preparing to return.

Jones responded with a message that immediately caught the attention of the MMA community.

Never say never, right now we are finishing up Gable’s training camp, Jones wrote on social media.

He’s looking extraordinary. I’ve been his main training partner, and I’m moving like I never left.

He then added another intriguing line.

Stem cells must be working.

Although the message was brief, it represented one of Jones’ strongest indications in recent months that another fight remains a possibility.

Recovery appears to be progressing

Jones has been open about the physical toll that decades of elite competition have taken on his body.

Earlier this year, he revealed that he has been dealing with severe arthritis and admitted that his condition became increasingly difficult during the latter stages of his career. He has since undergone stem cell treatment in an effort to improve his mobility and reduce pain.

The former heavyweight champion previously explained that many fighters quietly compete through injuries that never become public.

Like most fighters, we deal with injuries quietly sometimes, Jones said.

A lot of us walk around limping most days, paying the ultimate price for our health.

His latest comments suggest the treatment may be helping, with Jones claiming he feels as though he never stepped away from the sport.

Coaching Gable Steveson has reignited interest

Much of Jones’ recent focus has centered around helping Gable Steveson prepare for his highly anticipated UFC debut.

Steveson, an Olympic wrestling champion, faces Elisha Ellison at UFC 329, and Jones has served as his primary training partner throughout camp.

Working alongside one of wrestling’s most accomplished athletes appears to have reignited Jones’ competitive instincts.

While he has repeatedly praised Steveson’s progress, Jones also revealed that the intense training has reminded him how comfortable he still feels inside the gym.

His comments have naturally fueled fresh questions about whether coaching could eventually lead him back into the Octagon.

Heavyweight picture has changed

The UFC heavyweight division has evolved significantly since Jones last competed.

Tom Aspinall now holds the undisputed heavyweight championship and is expected to defend his belt against interim champion Ciryl Gane in a title unification bout later this year.

Jones briefly campaigned for a fight on the UFC White House card earlier this month but was not included in the event.

He also stepped away after negotiations for a showdown with Aspinall failed to materialize, allowing the heavyweight division to move forward without him.

For now, Jones has not indicated any specific opponent or timeline should he decide to return.

Jon Jones – Never say never

Despite all the speculation, Jones has continued sending mixed signals regarding his fighting future.

Earlier this year he spoke about transitioning into business and embracing a new phase of life outside competition. At the same time, he has consistently refused to completely close the door on another fight.

His latest message reinforces that position.

Never say never, Jones wrote.

Whether those words eventually lead to another UFC appearance remains uncertain. What is clear is that Jones still believes his body is responding well, his confidence has not disappeared, and training alongside Gable Steveson has reminded him that he can still perform at an elite level.

For now, no official comeback has been announced. But after months of uncertainty, Jon Jones has once again ensured that the possibility of one remains very much alive.
